i wonder what she thinks at night
when peaceful sleep eludes her
do eyes that view the precipice
see dreams that might include her?
leaps we take across the years
grow longer with our stride
toward boundless battles with our fears
that never quite subside
sometimes ledges beckon us
with grey or blue below
it’s granite versus ocean
it takes a leap to know
